Sr. Katrin initiated an educational/social support project for children of disabled leprosy patients in Balakot from 1968 onward. Due to her persistence for the very first time these children were allowed to attend public schools, colleges and other training institutions and complete education/ vocational training. From 1988 onward destitute children from needy Christian families (widows, orphans, and broken homes) receive support for their education. More than 250 beneficiaries are currently enrolled for help.
In 1987 House Emmanuel was started, a 30-bedded hostel for girls, it is located close to RLH. Many other children are admitted in well-run Christian hostels and boarding schools. Now Sr. Sonja is running this project. If proper care and schooling is ensured, children are supported within their families. Christian education is stressed for each child (attendance of daily devotions, church services, Sunday School, youth rallies, retreats etc), a personal commitment to Christ is encouraged.
A registered society was founded in 1969 and is legally responsible for this project. CTW Germany supports all the children through sponsorships. Besides this basic support many friends of CTS and CTW help in various ways.
