A severe flood in summer 2010 caused 20% of the territory of Pakistan to become submerged. Many houses in the narrow mountain valleys of Northern Pakistan were completely destroyed or seriously damaged. In Southern Punjab and the province of Sindh huge agricultural areas and villages were inundated. ALP carried out an agricultural rehabilitation project for 1600 families in Southern Punjab in 2010 and launched a reconstruction project in Hazara Division and Distt. Thatta, Sindh, which is still on-going. More than 300 families have received new safe houses so far; however, there are still more affected families in need. The project was completed in 2013.
Even after the floods in Hazara and Punjab, we helped many families reconstruct their houses or farms. We were supported by a network of helpers and organizations.
