Jujuy is a beautifully located town in the Andes mountains with more than 280000 inhabitants. But it also has its share of violence, crime, and alcohol and drug abuse. Many children from a very young age are victims of these problems. Thousands of people live in huge slums. In our Children Home “Hogar del Sol” and the Day Care Centre “Arca de Noe`” we want to help such children at risk and their families.

In the Children Home “Hogar del Sol” (House of the Sun) many destitute and disabled children have been brought up and have found a home. Approx. 20 orphans and semi-orphans live in 3 family-like groups. The children learn responsibility in their “families”, receive psycho-social support and intensive tuition and are thus prepared for a meaningful life. Many of them need professional help from psychologists and other specialists.

Confronted with the manifold needs of children of single mothers and/or from desperate family background we started the Day Care Centre “Arca de Noe’” (Noah’s Ark) in 1986 in the town of Jujuy. Around 130 children, aged between 9 months and 12 years, are cared for in different groups according to their age. All these children come from very problematic surroundings. Before we admit a child, a social assessment is done at their “home” in order to get a proper picture of the situation. A high number of mothers are very young and have been abused, others have changing partners, others are alcohol and drug-dependant and quite often violent. We, therefore, offer psycho-social support to the adults and the children, encourage spiritual counseling and also try to help them in practical terms to cope with their difficult family situation.

Together with our Argentinean staff members we offer Bible studies and in any celebrations at “Arca de Noe” we encourage to look towards Jesus, who is the Good Shepherd. We believe and have experienced that God’s grace and love does not despise dirty shelters and chaotic family life.
CTW Germany supports our work through sponsorships. There are also several support groups in Germany who show great commitment and creative ideas to raise funds for us and our project since many years.

We are also active in our small parish of Reyes, our suburb. Friendship and relations to the local people, who live side by side with us, are very important to us.
We are very grateful for our Sisterhood, that we can experience joys and worries together and bring them before God. It is very important for us, that He is able to deal with the seemingly hopeless need and despair of people and the very sad circumstances of our children. We want to help that the healing love of Jesus reaches their hearts and changes their lives for the better.

Thanks for open hands in so many years
